Hi, I am Japanese and my native language is not English. I graduated from a university in the US last year and earned a bachelor’s degree. Do I still have to take the TOEFL to prove my English proficiency to apply for your program? Thank you!

  • Thomas Furio says:

Hi Shu! Thank you for your interest in the graduate programs here at UC. I would have to know more about the university where you earned your degree and know what you studied, but typically overseas students that graduate from a U.S. university degree program would be exempt from the TOEFL requirement. Please contact me at 800-226-0075 so that we can discuss this in further detail. I look forward to speaking with you.

Does this program work for someone with an undergraduate degree in business who wants to make a career change?

  • Hi Ray, Unfortunately our program is not designed as licensure program. Once you get the teaching license our program would be a great option to build upon the foundation you have established. Please give us a call at 800-226-0075 if you have any additional questions.

  • Jason says:

    Hello,

I want to confirm that the TESOL course is under Curriculum & Instruction and therefore doesn’t require a GRE score. Is that true, or does TESOL fit under Educational Leadership?

  • Hi Jason, TESOL courses are part of the MEd in Literacy & Second Language Studies (PreK-12 Teaching English as a Second Language Specialization). The Curriculum & Instruction Program has specific GRE guidelines that determine whether or not an applicant is required to submit GRE scores. If the applicant is applying for their first master’s degree program – no GRE is required of applicants with at least a 3.0 overall in undergraduate degree program. Please contact an Enrollment Advisor at 1-800-226-0075 to assist you further.
