The MEd Gifted program is designed to produce educators who will identify and resolve common and potential legal/ethical issues related to gifted and talented education. University of Cincinnati’s Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction National Board Preparation program is tailor-made for teachers who are committed to students and their learning and are seeking National Board Certification. These teachers know the specific subjects that they teach as well as, how to teach those subjects effectively to students. Additionally, they are responsible for managing and monitoring student learning. Teachers, who are considering the National Board program, think systematically about their practice and learn from experience, they are often members of learning communities. The UC MEd National Board Preparation program is founded on many leadership qualities including truth, efficiency, community, professionalism, democracy, excellence, integrity, and progress. University of Cincinnati’s PK-12 Reading Instruction Graduate Certificate program ensures that licensed teachers receive the knowledge and skills needed to support students at differing stages of literacy development as well as from differing cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Teachers enrolled in the UC MEd Reading program will be prepared to use a wide variety of assessment tools and practices to plan and evaluate effective reading instruction and to offer key strategies to create a literate environment that fosters reading and writing. The program is designed to address the social, cultural and linguistic factors that contribute to a student\’s reading and writing development.
The University of Cincinnati Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program is accessible and attractive to educators working in formal and informal settings interested in integrating mathematics, science, technology, and engineering concepts to enhance learning across the curriculum. University of Cincinnati’s Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Graduate Certificate program is geared toward individuals who are licensed in single or multiple subject areas and are interested in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). The program is designed to meet the national TESOL standards. The aim of the program is to prepare theoretically informed and practically equipped, caring, committed, and competent ESL teachers, curriculum developers and consultants, and program administrators for domestic K-12 public and private schools.

Additionally, this program helps teachers transition their careers into principals or administrators, if they choose. Unlike some teaching positions, administration is a year-round commitment. During summer months, administrators are responsible for planning for the upcoming year, overseeing summer school, participating in workshops, supervising building repairs and improvements, and working to make sure the school has adequate staff for the upcoming school year. Administrators also meet and interact with staff, students, parents, and representatives of community organizations.
